I am by no means an expert in the garden area. I love to have a garden each year but that does not allow me to be called an expert.
But you don’t have to be an expert to have a backyard garden 🙂
I just try things and then see what works best for my garden each year.
I did for the first time start all my tomatoes from seed. And I was very surprised.
They did well. No troubles.
With a 4-year-old and 1-year-old running around I didn’t get to tend to them like I wanted but I still got some diced tomatoes canned to put up in the pantry. And we had lots of tomato sandwiches 🙂
Just a few tips for growing tomatoes:
1.Plant them deep and water the hole before you plant.
2. Make sure to have support for them. There are lots of different types of tomato cages that I’m sure will work well. This is something I will invest in when I can. Something like this.
3. They need water. Tomatoes do well with consistent watering. I want these to help me.
4. Trim off lower limbs after planting. Any that are touching the ground or close to touching the ground.
5. Feed and keep a close eye on them. This is the organic food I used here. Trim off anything that looks bad throughout the season.
